Bhagwan Nityanand Maharaj is a revered spiritual master whose life became deeply associated with Ganeshpuri. A key source from the Ganeshpuri institution explicitly states that His birth, genealogy and family background are not known with certainty. We therefore do not present an exact birth date or family genealogy as established fact.
Early Life
The available Nityanand sources describe His early life as mysterious. One institutional account gives a traditional story of a child named Raman being found in Kerala and raised by Chatu Nair and Ishwar Ayyar; the same broader tradition contains miraculous elements. Because another source explicitly says His birth and family background are unknown, this website labels such material as a traditional account, not a verified biography.
South India
Published Nityanand sources associate Him with places including Mangalore, Udupi, Mulki, Padubidri, Bantwal, Dharamsthala, Gokarna and Kanhangad/Guruvan. The Kanhangad tradition includes meditation caves and the site now associated with Guruvan.
Ganeshpuri
The Ganeshpuri institutional history states that Bhagwan Nityanand came to Ganeshpuri in 1937 and initially stayed near the hot spring of Bhimeshwar Mahadev Temple. It says that as devotees multiplied, He moved to Kailash Niwas. Another respected Nityananda source gives 1936 as the beginning of His Ganeshpuri period. We therefore record the discrepancy rather than pretending there is one uncontested date.
Mahasamadhi
The Ganeshpuri institutional source gives 8 August 1961 as the date He left His body. The same source describes His final days in the Bangalorewala building. This date is also repeated in its published Nityanand material.
Spiritual Legacy
Institutional and devotional sources describe silence, simplicity, meditation and the direct experience of spiritual presence as central features of His legacy. Accounts of miracles are preserved in the devotional tradition; this website does not present supernatural claims as scientifically established events.
